Raising anchor we sailed out of Port Lockray with the penguins swimming in the bay on the way to Dorian Bay, again on Wiencke Island. Once anchored we went ashore to look at Damoy Hut which had been built in 1975 by the British Antarctic Surveys as part of an airstrip that was built at Damoy Point. The hut was used as a transit point until 1973 for scientists travelling further south and last occupied in 1993. The hut is now looked after by the Antarctic Heritage Trust. Again there were penguin colonies about the bay, plenty of snow but very warm such that I, and others, took off our outer clothing.

Apart from the noise of the penguins it was noticeably very quiet at other parts of the bay. Leaving at 1400 hrs we motored to Anderson Bay in a light snow storm keeping an iceberg watch on the way. There was a zodiac ride round the Anderson Bay for those who wanted to go, which was about half the passengers, as the sea was rougher and the temperature had dropped. At 2000 hrs we left to go north, back to Ushuaia.
